Myself and other women like me from our neighborhood; we approached Jijau Trust seeking some assistance to generate income for our families, I am uneducated just like some of the women that are working here with me, we were at home and trying to meet our daily needs with our husband’s sole income. After hearing our plight, the volunteers informed us that they would help us under their women empowerment program and started our training with the tailoring department. There they taught us to stitch bedsheets and cotton blankets. It’s been four months since then.
We now have also learned to make additional items like broaches, Diya’s, candle’s, scented soaps and scented candles etc. We get raw material to process it further, our wages are calculated per day per item based. The amount is then credited to our bank account. Thanks to this we have a bank account, last month with the surplus amount that I had I bought a shirt for my son, it felt very different, I am enjoying this financial independence and feel my confidence boosted. Thank you, God and Jijau for all the help.
